Originating in the early eighties decade in Kingston Jamaica, dancehall music developed as a response to the prevalence of conscious reggae. At first, it was characterized by MCs toasting to reggae riddims, quickly evolving into a distinct blend of electronic sounds, driving beats, and frequently
